2009 – A big year at Shanklin
2009 will see the start of the push to move the club into its next era at the County Ground with the start of the new Clubhouse campaign.
The fundraising committee has already started work to arrange 2009 events, and soon after Christmas will see the official launch of the 5 yr plan.
Club secretary Barrie Wade said “It is vital that any organisation doesn’t sit still. Too often clubs don’t progress which ultimately results in players moving on to other clubs, with the existing set up becoming stale.”
“What we want to see at Shanklin is an environment where players can stay for life if they so wish. This will mean a better more structured youth set up, the first team progressing into the Hampshire League, and hopefully the implementation of a 3rd men’s team and who knows maybe an under 18’s team.”
“Anything is possible, but it needs a positive and proactive approach by all at the club, from the committee to players, from supporters to parents. Hopefully as a group we can take what is probably the biggest footballing set up on the Island into the next stages of growth.”
Please keep an eye on the site for fundraising event and support them wherever possible.
Thank you
