Shanklin really pulled together as a team today, with Jake B injured it fell to Harrison and Sam M to be our stand in goalies for todays match and they both did an excellent job.

It was definitely a game of 2 halves today, Oakfield started strongly and some neat passing put them 1 up, Shanklin failed to close them down quickly enough and they soon had a 2 goal lead. Shanklin started pressing forward later in the half and were rewarded with a free kick from the half way line, Bayley delivered and Eden tucked the ball away only for the goal to be disallowed by the linesman.

I dont know what Kelv said to the lads at half time but they came out really fired up, they passed the ball well, challenged for everything and dominated the play. A superb free kick from Jake W hit the post but everyone sensed a goal was coming and they didnt have to wait long before Eden blasted the ball into the back of the net, a well taken corner and a great header from Harrison put Shanklin back on level terms. A dubious penalty decision saw an opportunity for Oakfield to take the lead but they put the ball wide – justice was done! Shanklin continued to press for the winner but time was against them and the game finished 2 all. A fantastic team effort and an exciting match to watch, this was one of the best games the lads have played so far this season and they are proving that Shanklin are a team to be reckoned with!

Get well soon Jake, we need our goalie back!

Shanklin were rarely troubled by East Cowes, they played a fantastic passing game today, they kept there positions well and this enabled them to keep possesion, Ryan Barrett had a great game out on the wing, but the whole team worked hard today to ensure another victory and another clean sheet.

The match was very evenly contested, Newport opened the scoring midway through the first half but Shanklin kept the pressure up and Harrison Smith equalised just after half time. Shanklin were unlucky to concede later in the game, but it was end to end stuff and Shanklin could have equalised on several occasions. The lads deserved at least a draw from todays game but all credit to them for their hard work and determination, a superb team performance and a master class in goal keeping from Jake B.

Some excellent finishing today and it would have been considerably more but Rew Valleys keeper was on top form again. The lads kept their positions well and were not afraid to shoot, as a team everyone played there part, Jake in goal was there when needed, the defence was solid, the midfield worked hard and the strikers were outstanding. All in all a superb game to watch.

Shanklin had to come from behind to beat Seaview after the visitors scored from a quick counter attack against the run of play. Sam Moseley levelled things up for Shanklin and goals from Harrison Smith and a penalty from Bayley Hayter increased the lead.

Shanklin played better football in the second half and as the passing improved so did the chances on goal, a super strike from Ryan Barrett and a neat finish from Reggie Matthews gave the home side the 3 points.

Although the football wasn’t great today the boys did well to come from behind, in the past if they’ve gone a goal down the heads go down and they give up, so all credit to the lads for their positive attitude, well done. It should also be noted that if Shanklin put away all the chances that they created the scoreline would definatley be in the double figures, lets start making these chances count!

A bit of a scrappy affair with plenty of missed chances is how best to sum up todays match! Bayley Hayter opened the scoring with a rare right footed strike, the football wasn’t great in the first half, the lads got drawn in and it was a bit hit and hope, although there were plenty of chances to score Shanklin failed to find the back of the net on numerous occasions. Gurnard defended well and got plenty of boddies behind the ball, Sam Moseley eventually found a way through with a well taken goal to give Shanklin a 2 goal lead at half time.

Shanklin played better football in the second half, they used the width more and passed the ball better, a brace from Harrison Smith and further goals from Jake Wright, Reggie Matthews and Eden Pardey ensured a comfortable win against a hard working Gurnard side.

Yet another clean sheet for Jake Bienek in goal, with no goals conceaded in the last 5 league games goes to show how well the lads are playing as a team.

The boys put on a very professional performance today and they all gave 100%. Harrison Smith opened the scoring with an unstoppable strike from just inside the box, this seemed to give the boys even more confidence the passing was fluent and they used the wings well, a neat finish from Sam Moseley meant that Shanklin went into the half time break with a 2 goal advantage.

Shanklin started the second half just as strongly, the defence was solid and the midfield worked hard and spread the play well, some excellent build up play saw Jake Wright able to blast home Shanklins 3rd goal of the day. A penalty was awarded when a Sandown player who must have thought he was a goalie picked the ball up on the line, Bayley Hayter stepped up and neatly slotted the ball into the top left corner giving the keeper no chance. Another confident performance from Jake Bienek in goal, he commanded his area well and got himself yet another clean sheet.

This game was a pleasure to watch, and as Kelvin said to the lads when they play like they did today they are capable of beating anyone in the league.

A game of missed chances is how best to sum up todays match, the boys secured a comfortable win over Rew Valley but with the amount of shots on goal and 90% of the possession the scoreline could, and should have been very different.

Ryan Flynn opened the scoring for Shanklin early in the game which settled the lads down, they passed the ball round well and used the width to their advantage, a neat finish from Reggie Matthews gave Shanklin their 2nd goal. It was only fitting that Shanklins next 2 goals came from Sam Moseley, today marked his 100th appearance for Shanklin which is quite some achievement and shows what excellent commitment he has to the club, well done Sam. Shanklin kept up the pressure and Chandler Builth’s hard work paid off with him bagging Shanklins 5th goal of the day.

All the lads worked hard today, defence was tight and another clean sheet for Jake in goal. I also think that Rew Valleys keeper deserves a mention as he was outstanding throughout the whole match.

Playing on a full size pitch threw the lads in the 1st half of this match, instead of making use of the width and playing passing football they got drawn in and gave the ball away needlessly. Despite this they worked hard and had plenty of chances on goal and were unlucky not to take the lead. Seaview had their fair share of possesion but couldn’t break through Shanklins solid defence.

Shanklin came out stronger in the 2nd half and played some better football, they used the wings more and the passing was more fluent. The breakthrough finally came 5 minutes from the final whistle when Harrison Smith went 1 on 1 with the keeper and neatly slotted the ball into the back of the net. The lads all worked hard today and deserved the win.
